Mixing Mastering

In order to ensure that students are adequately prepared to move into the Mixing & Mastering phase, this course begins with Advanced Production concepts. Once a student shows mastery of Advanced Production, the class will move into Mixing & Mastering.

Mixing & Mastering are the final steps of the production process, and are essential to creating a sound that’s punchy, dynamic, clear and ready for the World’s ears. During the mix down, you have a wide variety of tools and effects at your disposal, and our Mixing & Mastering Course teaches you how, when and why to use them. Explore the way compression, multi-band compression, reverb, saturation, overdrive, reverb, EQ and other effects and processes help to sculpt the end product. Learn the tips and tricks to cleaning up your stereo field and/or widening it. You’ll quickly realize that mixing is 100% subjective, so there’s never a hard and fast way to mix. The end goal of this Course is to help each student identify problems and weak points in each mix, and how to go about fixing those problems. After putting together a strong mix, Mastering is the icing on the cake to make your tracks loud, clear and consistent.

At SLDP, our #1 priority with every student and every course, is 100% student satisfaction. Each course has a specific and detailed outline, and an estimated time of completion, but we realize that students may wish to spend more time, or less time on any given subject. The course outline serves as a road map to success, but our instructors are more than happy to take a few detours along the way. At any point during the process, we’re willing to put in extra hours apart from scheduled session time to help a student falling behind or struggling with a specific topic. Additionally, once you come in to SLDP, you’re part of the family, and we’re more than happy to continue giving advice and answering questions, even after your course(s) have ended. Just email us or schedule a time to stop by!

SLDP courses do not include any supplies or equipment needed to study and practice on your own time, including, but not limited to, computers, keyboards, production equipment, DJing equipment, software, hardware, paper, pens, etc. Students are required to provide these items for themselves.
